Soil health is a critical determinant of agricultural productivity and environmental sustainability. Traditional assessment methods often fail to provide comprehensive understanding soil microbial communities their functions. This study addresses this challenge by employing metagenomic techniques assess the functionality microbiomes in Russian black soil, renowned for its high fertility. We utilized shotgun sequencing analyze samples from Western Siberia subjected different degrees agro-soil disturbance. identified functional genes involved carbon (accA, argG, acsA, mphE, miaB), phosphorus (phoB, ppa, pstB, pnp, phnJ), nitrogen (queC, amiF, pyrG, guaA, guaB, napA) metabolic pathways associated with changes diversity, general, higher representation certain bacterial species—Bradyrhizobium spp. The results demonstrated significant differences composition potential between tillage treatments. No-Till technology conventional practices promoted beneficial enhanced compared long-term fallow soil. work underscores analysis providing health, marking advancement field.

Alpine wetlands are critical ecosystems for global carbon (C) cycling and climate change mitigation. Ecological restoration projects alpine grazing urgently needed, especially due to their role as sinks. However, the fate of C pool in after from remains unclear. In this study, soil samples both grazed restored Zoige (near Hongyuan County, Sichuan Province, China) were collected analyze organic (SOC) fractions, arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi (AMF), properties, plant biomass. Moreover, Tea Bag Index (TBI) was applied assess initial decomposition rate (

Poyang Lake is the largest freshwater lake in China, which boasts unique hydrological conditions and rich biodiversity. In this study, metagenomics technology was used to sequence microbial genome of soil samples S1 (sedimentary), S2 (semi-submerged), S3 (arid) with different water content from wetland; results indicate that three have physicochemical characteristics their community structure functional gene distribution are also different, resulting separate ecological functions. The abundance typical ANME archaea Candidatus Menthanoperedens high mcrA mutually demonstrate prominent roles methane anaerobic oxidation pathway during cycle. S2, advantageous bacterial genus Nitrospira ammonia function validated by a large number nitrification genes (amoA, hao, nxrA), manifesting it plays monumental role nitrogen S3, dominant Nocardioides confirms multitude antibiotic resistance genes, indicating crucial emphatic research value for issues. above preliminarily proved communities as indicators predicting wetland functions, will help better develop plans restoring balance addressing climate change.
