Abstract The present work assesses the relationship between air temperature measurements obtained from Automatic Weather Stations (AWS) and ERA5-Land reanalysis data in Java, Indonesia. statistical indicators, including Pearson correlation coefficient (r), mean bias error (MBE), absolute (MAE), were analyzed on five AWS sites with different heights. Analysis reveals strong correlations (r > 0.9) datasets, except for Dieng, which exhibits a weaker = 0.75) substantial overestimation (MBE 5.64). In general, underestimates temperatures, an average discrepancy of roughly 2°C. An examination qualitative constraints accurately representing local microclimates because intricate geography. Subsequent research will extend this analysis to encompass Indonesia enhance interpolation regression models get more accurate estimation data.

Abstract Power utilities are increasingly emphasizing the need for high‐resolution reanalysis datasets to develop resilience plans protecting and managing infrastructure against extreme weather events. In response, Ricerca Sul Sistema Energetico (RSE) S.p.A. created new MEteorological Reanalysis Italian DAtaset (MERIDA) High‐RESolution (HRES) reanalysis, a 4‐km resolution dataset with explicit convection specifically designed Italy. This dataset, publicly available from 1986 present, has been evaluated compared previously developed MERIDA (7‐km over Italy) ERA5, global driver. The validation is conducted across different scales (i.e., climatology single events) multiple variables 2‐meter temperature, daily total precipitation, 10‐meter wind speed). Specific cases, such as convective storm in July 2016 northern Italy near Bergamo more synoptically driven Vaia October 2018, analyzed illustrate dataset's potential capturing precipitation extremes. Additionally, Arbus wildfire event Sardinia examined showcase multivariable application assessing fire hazards. Through performance maps statistical analyses, ability of HRES represent both long‐term statistics events highlighted. Despite consistent cold temperature bias Italy, higher peaks mountainous regions, outperforms that ERA5 all cases. These findings demonstrate significant this product applications
