Abstract The kinetics of anionic polymerization β‐myrcene initiated by sec ‐butyllithium were examined in saturated and unsaturated hydrocarbon solvents, i.e. cyclohexane, cyclohexene, 4‐vinylcyclohexene dl ‐limonene. Polymerizations usually proceeded a living manner, the absence termination chain transfer reactions, all to produce well‐defined polymyrcenes with high content (>85%) cis ‐1,4 units. However, polymyrcenyllithium chains exhibited limited long‐term stability solution, most probably due solvent. Reaction orders respect concentration active found be one‐quarter cyclohexane increasing one‐half indicating that are present as tetrameric or dimeric associates, respectively. Apparent activation energies 81 kJ mol −1 77 ‐limonene which close values obtained quantum chemical calculations. © 2025 Author(s).
