Abstract Aim To translate the Empowerment Scale for Pregnant Women (ESPW) into Chinese and to assess its linguistic validity. Methods The integrative method of translation process, Delphi technique, cognitive interviews were used implement cross‐cultural adaptation enhance comprehensibility validation. This study recruited 14 experts in expert review cognitively reviewed 15 pregnant women. Results two‐round created agreement on cultural applicability. results content validity achieved good levels: item‐level index (CVI) ranged from 0.78 1.00, scale‐level index, calculated using two different formulas, 0.97 0.81, respectively. Kappa values 0.74 1.00. women could understand most items response options interview. revisions wording made based suggestions Conclusion prefinal simplified ESPW was semantically conceptually equivalent English version, which well prepared further psychometric tests next stage adaptation.
