Introduction Centella asiatica (CA) is known in Ayurvedic medicine as a rejuvenating herb with particular benefits the nervous system. Two groups of specialized metabolites found CA and purported to contribute its beneficial effects are triterpenes (TTs) caffeoylquinic acids (CQAs). In order evaluate role interactions TTs CQAs CA, we examined neurotrophic water extract (CAW) combinations TT CQA components mouse primary hippocampal neurons vitro Drosophila melanogaster flies vivo . Methods Primary were isolated from embryos exposed for 5 days CAW (50 μg/mL), mixtures TTs, or + 4 8 individual compounds CAW. Dendritic arborization was evaluated using Sholl analysis. aged 28 treated 2 weeks (10 mg/mL) food, compounds. tested at concentrations matching their levels treatment used. After treatment, 42 phototaxis responses. Results neurons, mix, all most significantly increased dendritic greater than control levels. However, combination decreased arborization. Drosophila, marked age-related decline fast response observed both males females over 60 period. resilience this afforded male female by onwards mg/mL), equivalent mixed mix. Of compounds, only 1,5-diCQA slowed flies. Discussion This study confirmed ability increase neuronal arborization, provide neurological The these but do not have synergistic effect. While concentrations, model, able slow down phototaxis. suggests that (or potentially higher concentrations) other needed model.

Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is a chronic autoimmune inflammatory disease characterized by joint inflammation, swelling and pain. Although RA mainly affects the joints, can also have systemic implications. The presence of autoantibodies, such as anti-cyclic citrullinated peptide antibodies rheumatoid factors, hallmark disease. significant cause disability worldwide associated with advancing age, genetic predisposition, infectious agents, obesity smoking, among other risk factors. Currently, treatment depends on anti-inflammatory disease-modifying anti-rheumatic drugs intended to reduce inflammation pain, preventing or slowing down damage progression. However, these are severe side effects upon long-term use, including immunosuppression development opportunistic infections. Natural products, namely triterpenes properties, shown relevant anti-arthritic activity in several animal models without undesirable effects. Therefore, this review covers recent studies (2017-2022) safe promising drug candidates for RA. These bioactive compounds were able produce reduction indices immunological markers. Celastrol, betulinic acid, nimbolide some ginsenosides stand out most treatment.

Terpenes are a broad and varied group of organic compounds found in numerous plants, especially conifers, some insects. They known for imparting aromatic properties to these organisms. Recently, there is growing interest terpenes due their wide-range applications increase demand natural products. This surge particularly evident the cosmetic, pharmaceutical, food industries, where ingredients has significantly boosted appeal terpenes. Additionally, role traditional medicine provided historical context that supported modern use, subsequent cancer therapeutics. For past few decades, studies have been conducted delve deeper into potential oncotherapeutic effect terpenes, with in-vivo in-vitro being carried out rapidly. However, lack clinical trials, use practically as well commercially, become questionable recent times.

Polygonatum is a traditional medicinal and edible plant often prepared by steaming it with ingredients like yellow rice wine black beans. However, the metabolic changes in kingianum (PK) during method beans have not been previously reported. This study aims to explore how addition of degree affect quality PK. quantified polysaccharides, reducing sugars, saponins, flavonoids PK subjected varied cycles, while also integrating color measurement, sensory evaluation, non-targeted metabolomics analysis. rich lipids, amino acids, flavonoids, organic acids. Notably, we observed production significant accumulation daidzein daidzin (two primary active compounds derived from beans) as well triterpenoid saponins (including Sandosaponin A, Soyasaponin II-III, V, Pisumsaponin I-II) steamed (p < 0.05). After three multiple bioactive levels peaked or stabilized, which was consistent (score: 94/100). Compared raw PK, P3 stage exhibited increases total 21.29, 35.02, 49.13, 44.76%, respectively 0.05), sugars showed remarkable increase 160.94-fold 0.01), polysaccharides decreased significantly 43.33% 0.01). provides first evidence that can synergistically diversity isoflavones optimal achieved after rounds steaming. These findings validate scientific efficacy processing method. Our results advocate for continued use bean enhance nutritional health-promoting value providing template innovation herbal techniques based on auxiliary ingredients.
