Abstract Intramolecular photochemical C−H insertion reactions of α‐diazocarbonyl compounds are powerful synthetic transformations leading to carbon‐carbon bond formation. While there limitations in the scope bonds amenable under conditions relative metal catalysed insertions, benefits conducting these synthetically a metal‐free approach offers “green” advantages. Recent advances technology have revolutionised potential for use synthesis, including wavelength control enabled by LEDs and associated with continuous flow processing which overcome many traditional challenges photochemistry scale‐up. The telescoping synthesis downstream is clear. This review summarises development intramolecular insertions highlights recent technological advances.
