Abstract Pharmaceuticals are emerging contaminants found in aquatic environments, posing significant risks to human and animal health. The global shortage of potable water, driven by population growth, pollution, droughts, climate change, poses a challenge. Effective water purification is essential, as traditional wastewater treatment often fails meet the rising demand for safe drinking under World Health Organization (WHO)and United States Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA) standards. To address this challenge, nanotechnology has emerged vital application environmental science, particularly removing pharmaceutical compounds from ecosystems. In recent years, bimetallic nanoparticles (BNP s ), combination two dissimilar metal elements at nanoscale through adsorption and/or catalysis mechanisms have played role because their large surface area, cost‐effectiveness, improved processability, fast decontamination. These metallic nanomaterials exhibit enhanced properties compared precursors, including distinct chemical physical attributes, synergistic effects, diverse action. BNPs influenced size, structure, morphology, development BNP based composite promising direction effective groundwater adsorption, reduction, oxidation mechanisms. main objective discussed detail review effectiveness adsorbing compounds, especially with three categories drugs: antibiotics, nonsteroidal anti‐inflammatory drugs, miscellaneous drug water; advancements synthesis nanomaterials; operational factors affecting isotherm, kinetic, thermodynamics.
