Abstract The aggregation‐caused quenching has always limited the high concentration and solid‐state applications of carbon nanodots. While aggregation‐induced emission effect, dominated by intramolecular motion, may be an effective means to solve this problem. Here, hydrophobic red‐light nanodots (M‐CDs) with 95% yield are synthesized a one‐step hydrothermal method using 2,2'‐dithiodibenzoic acid as source manganese acetate dopant source. disulfide bond serves symmetry center molecular rotation Mn catalyzes synthesis M‐CDs, which promotes formation central graphitic structure. M‐CDs/agar hydrogel composites can achieve fluorescence transition behavior because special properties M‐CDs. When composite is placed in water, water molecules contact M‐CDs through network structure hydrogels, making aggregated hydrogels orange‐red under 365 nm excitation. dimethyl sulfoxide, replaced fluoresce blue when dispersed, providing potential application information encryption. In addition, high‐performance monochromatic light‐emitting diode (LED) devices prepared compounding epoxy resin coating them on LED chips.
