Abstract Agnes Arber (1879–1960) was a British plant morphologist, historian of botany, and philosopher biology. Though now largely forgotten, her work offers valuable insights into morphological as well philosophical issues. This paper focuses on Arber’s teleology in plants. After providing brief overview life distinct style work, two notions are presented, which become apparent work. The first notion, labeled final , is based Aristotle’s cause deals with adaptation-based explanations second formal . It grounded the Aristotelian inherent directiveness developing structures actualization potentialities organisms their parts. Whereas showed reserved skeptical attitude towards teleology, she very sympathetic to building general framework it. Two examples from then given, illustrate how informed theorizing: partial-shoot theory leaf, parallelism evolution counter-proposal natural selection. Finally, teleological interpretation morphology historically contextualized connected recent research developments evolutionary biology morphology.

As aquaculture continues to expand globally, diseases caused by Vibrio species are becoming increasingly prevalent. Vibriosis encompasses a range of infections, which can lead symptoms such as skin lesions, hemorrhaging, and high mortality rates in fish shellfish, especially high-density farming systems, resulting significant economic losses. Simultaneously, the extensive use antibiotics has fostered emergence antibiotic-resistant bacteria, exacerbated disease outbreaks, complicated control measures. Phage therapy, leverages bacteriophages natural antibacterial agents, offers promising eco-friendly alternative used aquaculture. This study aimed evaluate potential two vibriophages for phage therapy Two virulent vibriophages, vB_VcaP_R24D vB_VcaP_R25D, were isolated from wastewater seafood markets using campbellii LMG 11216T host strain. The identified based on their morphology, infection dynamics, range, genomic features, lytic activity, environmental stability. Both phages belong podovirus morphotype exhibit life cycle characterised short latent period (< 10 min). Genomic analyses confirmed absence lysogenic genes, virulence factors, antibiotic-resistance thereby ensuring genetic safety. Additionally, both demonstrated stability over broad temperatures (4–45 °C) pH (3–10). Lytic curve further indicated robust efficiency during logarithmic growth phase vibriophages. These biological characteristics highlight vB_VcaP_R25D effective biocontrol agents mitigating vibriosis Although this demonstrates narrow possibility other untested hosts cannot be entirely excluded. Furthermore, findings offer valuable insights future research phage-host interactions development cocktails improve management systems.
