Purpose This study empirically tests a model of human capital (HC) factors affecting the organisational competitiveness (OC) automotive parts suppliers in Industry 4.0 framework, including concepts such as Toyota Kata (TK), Kaizen and Quality 4.0, during coronavirus disease 2019 pandemic. Design/methodology/approach An instrument was created to measure emotional intelligence (EI) analytical skill (AS) input variables OC output variable. The distributed electronically Tier 1 non-technical employees Nuevo León Querétaro, México. A total 195 surveys were obtained. used stepwise multiple linear regression. Findings proposes strengthen supply industry from perspective HC factors. Furthermore, it is shown that EI AS have positive significant impact on OC. Practical implications From an perspective, this provides useful basis improve for researchers, experts managers at different levels industry, triple helix (academia, government). Originality/value No studies simultaneously test relationship OC; therefore, fills gap literature. explored literature individual (IK) TK, leading contrast between definitions AS. Finally, EI, reference motivation found IK. In case AS, orientation ability problem solving TK.

Lean is a successful method used to identify waste and improve production systems. In recent years, the Toyota Kata (TK) approach emerge on how can continuously its process. TK describes pattern make improvement process routine. It aims centralize decision making people who actively participate in processes. Through action research, objective of this study was use characterize sources an automatic pipe grinding machine system with active participation shop floor workers. As result, it identified that operator has 59% idle time, equipment 48% time. Using approach, possible implement routine for continuous improvements. Shop workers took lead scientific through PDCA cycles waste. reported by employee, working routines become more enjoyable when there stimulus think about what happening work be done better.
