Urban non-point source (NPS) pollution is an important risk factor that leads to the deterioration of urban water quality, affects human health, and destroys ecological balance environment. Reasonable prevention control NPS are conducive reducing cost management. Therefore, based on theory “source–sink” in landscape ecology, combined with minimum cumulative resistance (MCR) model, this study considered influence geographic-environment factors Shenyang’s built-up area pollutants process entering body under action surface runoff, evaluated its risk. The results indicated highest loads generated by road surfaces. High-density residential zones industrial main sources pollution. Impervious ratios patch density were dominant environmental affecting pollutant transport, contributions 56% 40%, respectively. transport significantly positively correlated distance from bodies roads. Higher areas mainly concentrated center roads near Hun River. Green spaces, business zones, public service development educational demonstrate average index values, exceeding 29. In contrast, preservation showed lowest (7.3). Compared traditional method, method proposed could accurately estimate provide a new reference for assessments

Considering the environmental objectives assumed by European Commission through Cohesion Policy, main aim of this study is to check stability relationship between economic growth, GHG emissions, and energy consumption, also known as 3E relationship, which allows us recreate EU policy recommendations. The analysis member states using panel data time series (1990–2023) showed significant shifts in three variables, especially due COVID-19 pandemic. Consequently, many countries successfully decoupled emissions from growth. Nevertheless, persistent carbon-intensive use patterns most remain a major obstacle, emphasizing need for increased efforts cleaner technologies sustainable transitions.

Published: July 7, 2024

Crude oil spills significantly impact aquatic ecosystems, necessitating innovative remediation strategies. Microalgae-based bioremediation, particularly with Chlorella vulgaris, offers a promising solution. This study introduces novel framework that evaluates the combined effects of selected environmental stressors on microalgal adaptability, advancing beyond traditional isolated factor analyses. By integrating factorial experimental design machine learning approach using PyCaret AutoML and SHAP values, we provide detailed examination how crude concentration, salinity, exposure duration affect C. vulgaris growth. The Extra Trees Regressor model emerged as highly accurate in predicting biomass crucial adaptability indicator, achieving an MAE 0.0202, RMSE 0.029, R² 0.8875. analysis highlighted salinity significant growth influencers, playing minor role. Notably, exhibited more sensitivity to than oil, indicating potential high-salinity challenges but also strong tolerance pollutants. These findings enhance our understanding responses polluted environments suggest improved bioremediation approaches for saline waters affected by spills, leveraging synergy factors insights.
