Abstract The study sampled wild Sesame from open field in South Africa. samples were pretreated while the extracts screened for phytochemical compositions and applied water purification using standard procedures. physicochemical properties of raw purified (pH, total dissolved solids, salinity turbidity conductivity) analyzed situ before after treatment lab, respectively. plant’s extract leaves stem was prepared selected solvents (methanol, cold warm water). results revealed presence phytochemicals including tannins, phenols, flavonoids, steroids, anthraquinone, terpenoids, saponins, phlobatannins both leaf plant. shows effective percentage reduction E. coli bacteria with (98.5, 100.0 97.2%), (98.8, 95.0%) (94.0, 95.4 99.0%), (99.4, 98.6 98.4%) methanol, water, respectively, at 5ml extracts. This explores use disinfecting river stream samples, highlighting potential greener sustainable treatment. parameters treated within tolerable limits, especially solids. Thus, is presented as a solution purification, aligning SDG goals 6 (clean water), 9, 12 (green innovations). It fills knowledge product gap treatment, causing minimal harm, consistent African Union's development agenda Council on Water's goal clean water. innovation meets criteria technology readiness levels 2 3, making it ready further development.
