Abstract Crops produced using recombinant DNA technology have invaluable food security roles but are not broadly accepted. Food insecurity affects between 45% and 50% of the Ghanaian populace, while debate to adopt, accept, use, commercialize genetically modified (GM) crops is ongoing. In this study, a choice‐based conjoint experimental design was adopted investigate factors driving acceptance or rejection GM in Ghana. Results from average marginal component effect estimation suggest that safety concern major driver for accepting rejecting crops. This further confirmed predicted probabilities means community especially when it possesses certain attributes. The safer crop perceived human consumption, health, environment, more likely populace will accept it. addition, yield taste were observed be other key Importantly, country patency also critical factor whether accepted There need active greater engagement with put proper legislation, regulations, policies, knowledge co‐creation process ensure use

The rate of environmental degradation is an increasing trend globally and most especially in many developing nations where it has food production implications. This deterioration quality mostly attributed to population growth, urbanization, industrialization, unsustainable agricultural practices.
