Small-scale fisheries play a vital role in the economy of Bangladesh, especially providing livelihood to fishers and foreign exchange. A study on socio-economic assessment small-scale fishing fish availability Kalni River Habiganj district was conducted for four months from May August 2023. total 58 were randomly selected interviewed information gathering pre-checklisting focus group discussions (FGDs). Of these, 93% male mean age 36.89 ± 6.43 years. The results showed that monthly income ranged 10,000-20,000 BDT, 20,000-30,000 less than 10,000 BDT. collected various aspects including type gear used small indigenous (SIS). main method, 'Ber jal' gear, accounted 80% catch, while 'Dhormo remaining 20%. During this period, 1-3 types Puti (Puntius sp.) (Nandus nandus) Gobiidae family is most abundant species. Various SISs caught river; some rare species also identified. Community-based management approach sanctuaries, as well public awareness fishery resources, could be effective minimizing anthropogenic impacts fishers’ livelihood.
