CO2 emissions from the combustion of fossil fuels represent largest anthropogenic disruption natural global carbon cycle and lead to an undesirable increase in atmospheric levels. The so-called "carbon-neutral" renewable energy source biomass appears be a promising replacement for fuels. "Combined Energy Biosphere Model" (CEBM), was developed as method calculating content after intensive use biomass. It includes (i) biosphere part computing annual on 2,433 grid elements covering continents’ plant mass soil, well (ii) economic 119 countries. As history understanding (including quantification growth decay by formulae, inclusion deforestation, fuel fertilizer effect) shows, such model (as CEBM) provides needed methodology assess net effects large-scale plant’s atmosphere. Results show that (in systemic view) is “only half neutral” previously thought, even principal level. conclusions indicate (even if valuable mitigation strategy) its potential limited. When interpreting CEBM scenarios, very first priority, reducing current demand most highly preserving climate.
