Amylose-free and wild-type cassava starches were fermented for up to 30 days oven- or sun-dried. The specific volume (ν) after baking was measured in native starches. average ν (across treatments) waxy starch 3.5 times higher than that (17.6 vs. 4.8 cm3 g-1). best (obtained fermentation sun-drying) had considerably poorer breadmaking potential (8.4 16.4 g-1, respectively). results generally obtained through the synergistic combination of (for about 10-14 days) sun-drying. Fermentation reduced viscosities weight molar mass led denser macromolecules increased branching degree, which are linked a high loaf volume. absence amylose, however, shown be main determinant as well. The variability in genetic variance and covariance due to genotype × environment interaction (G×E) can hinder selection accuracy, especially for complex traits. This study analyzed G×E interactions cassava identify stable, high-performing genotypes predict agronomic performance untested environments using factor analytic multiplicative mixed models (FAMM) within multi-environment trials (METs). We evaluated 22 fresh root yield (FRY), dry (DRY), shoot (ShY), matter content (DMC) across 55 Brazilian environments. FAMM was applied estimate values environmental loads, revealing significant variance, FRY (0.16-0.92) broad-sense heritability ([Formula: see text]) above 0.70 advanced trials. In joint analyses, FA4 explained over 88% of variation all traits despite high data imbalance. Positive correlations were found between ShY DRY (0.99 1.0, respectively), while DMC showed negative (-0.82 -0.95). Latent regression analysis identified hybrids adaptable a range environments, as well suited specific conditions. Moderate covariables (rainfall, altitude, solar radiation) FA model loadings suggest these factors contribute interactions, notably FRY. provided robust approach cassava, yielding practical insights breeding programs.

The cooking quality, especially the pasting properties, is essential in cassava starch applications or successfully utilizing food industries and at household level. This study evaluated roots from Genetic Gain Assessment trial grown three locations for dry matter (DM) characteristics. Four hundred genotypes were planted under IVS (Dry season Inland Valley Hydromorphic area) Upland (rain-fed conditions) trials IITA Research Farms, Nigeria. harvested (12 months after planting) analyzed DM, dried-milled properties using standard laboratory methods. DM ranged 25.04 to 38.72%, with a mean of 31.97 ± 2.41%. (peak, trough, breakdown, setback final viscosities) 140.36–570.93 RVU (mean 241.71 38.17), 6.74–173.32 96.65 23.45), 66.97–482.35 142.44 30.16), 60.06–231.74RVU 134.42 30.52), 5.22–135.69 37.78 12.96), respectively. had no significant effect ( P > 0.05) on but growing location showed highly < all parameters studied. cluster analysis grouped into 2 clusters where 1 115 285 genotypes, Knowing impact genotype behavior could help breeders select best excellent qualities that adapt different environments identify suitable area quality.
