This perspective summarizes evidence on across terms of prevalence, consequences, current mitigation strategies, with aim outlining challenges opportunities for dietitians. Abstract Background To cope with the COVID-19 pandemic, social distancing restrictions where implemented in France, which could have led to isolation. BACKGROUND:

Indigenous peoples in Canada have high rates of psychological distress and suicide. We sought to assess the socioeconomic inequalities suicidal behaviours, factors that explain them within living off-reserve.

METHODS:

Using nationally representative 2012 Aboriginal Peoples Survey collected from adults off-reserve Canada, we measured income-related (measured on 10-item Kessler Psychological Distress Scale) behaviours (suicidal ideation suicide attempt) identified contributing these using concentration index (C) approach.

RESULTS:

Among 14 410 individuals representing 600 750 (aged ≥ 18 yr) mean score was 16.1; 19.4% reported lifetime 2.2% a attempt. Women had higher scores (mean 16.7 v. 15.2, p < 0.001), prevalence (21.9% 16.1%, 0.001) attempts (2.3% 2.0%, = 0.002) than men. Poorer disproportionately experienced (C −0.054, 95% confidence interval [CI] −0.057 −0.050), (Cn −0.218, CI −0.242 −0.194) −0.327, −0.391 −0.263). Food insecurity income, respectively, accounted for 40.2% 13.7% distress, 26.7% 18.2% 13.4% 7.8% concentrated among low-income peoples.

INTERPRETATION:
