Abstract
Sensory
impairments
are
linked
to
loneliness,
but
the
reasons
not
well
understood.
This
study
aims
investigate
associations
between
sensory
and
loneliness
over
time,
considering
sex,
age,
European
regions,
examine
mediating
roles
of
activity
participation,
activities
daily
living
(ADL),
depressive
symptoms,
quality
life
(QoL),
cognitive
function,
social
network.

a
cohort

Europeans
aged
50
+
years,
participating
in

least
two
waves

Ageing
Retirement
Europe
(SHARE)

2011–2022.
Loneliness

measured

scale

Mixed-effects
regression

with
sex-interactions,
adjusting
for
socio-demographic
factors
