Cancer continues to increase global morbidity and mortality rates. Despite substantial progress in the development of various chemically synthesized anti-cancer drugs, poor prognosis disease still remains a big challenge. The most common drawback conventional cancer therapies is emergence drug resistance eventually leading discontinuation chemotherapy. Moreover, advanced target-specific including immunotherapy stem cell therapy are expensive enough unaffordable for patients poorer nations. Therefore, alternative cheaper therapeutic strategies needed complement current treatment approaches. Phytochemicals bioactive compounds produced naturally by plants have great potential human health disease. These possess antiproliferative, anti-oxidant, immunomodulatory properties. Among phytochemicals, flavonoids very effective treating wide range diseases from cardiovascular immunological disorders cancer. They scavenge reactive oxygen species (ROS), inhibit metastasis, modulate immune system induce apoptotic or autophagic death cancers. This review will discuss phytochemicals particularly attempts target

Capirona macrophylla is a Rubiaceae known as “mulateiro”. Ethnobotanical extracts have been used for skin treatment and in the management of leishmaniasis malaria. Objectives: The metabolites aqueous from wood bark, leaves, stems were identified, their silico docking vitro cellular efficacy against Leishmania amazonensis Plasmodium falciparum evaluated. Methods: analyzed by UHPLC/HRMSn using untargeted metabolomics approach with MSDial, MSFinder, GNPS software metabolite identification spectra clustering. most abundant underwent molecular AutoDock via PyRx, targeting dihydroorotate dehydrogenase P. falciparum, evaluated through dynamics simulations Gromacs. In biological assays conducted on 60 HPLC-fractions these parasites. Results: Metabolomics analysis identified 5100 ESI+ 2839 ESI− among “mulateiro” samples. clustering highlighted large clusters quercetin chlorogenic acid groups. isofraxidin, scopoletin, 5(S)-5-carboxystrictosidine, loliolide, quercetin, quinic acid, caffeoylquinic (and isomers), neochlorogenic tryptophan, N-acetyltryptophan, epicatechin, procyanidin, kaempferol-3-O-robinoside-7-O-rhamnoside. Molecular pointed to 3,4-dicaffeoylquinic kaempferol promising inhibitors. yielded four active L. IC50 values ranging 175.2 μg/mL 194.8 μg/mL, fraction G29 showed an 119.8 falciparum. Conclusions: ethnobotanical use bark tea antimalarial antileishmanial agent was confirmed assays. We speculate that activities are attributed linoleic acids acids.

The Lamiaceae family is one of the widest plant families among Greek flora, consisting a great variety species, with genus Stachys being its largest representatives, spread to most continents. also known for beneficial properties and has been used years as traditional remedy healing various health conditions. iva, an endemic in Kozani Regional unit, consumed infusion by locals reported relieve common cold symptoms, have antimicrobial properties, contribute normalizing blood glucose levels. present study aimed identify chemical compounds (such phenolic acids, flavonoids, phenylethanoid glycosides) responsible herb's pharmacological determine optimal extraction conditions gather extract high therapeutic value without solvent energy waste. Experiments conducted proved that extracting simple stirring deionized water 75 min at 80°C best option. In contrast, extract's total polyphenol content was determined, were identified high-performance liquid chromatography analysis. addition, other methods utilized (e.g., ferric-reducing antioxidant power assay 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl antiradical activity assay) reveal potent antioxidant, anti-hydrogen peroxide, anti-inflammatory activity, while correlation between these examined.

Abstract Introduction Cancer is the main cause of mortality worldwide, and finding effective treatments with fewer side effects crucial. Medicinal plants offer significant potential in this area. They contain bioactive compounds that may have antitumor effects. The aim study to assess cytotoxicity various medicinal towards several cancer cell lines. Materials Methods Antiproliferative activity extracts from Crataegus monogyna , Rhamnus alaternus Lavandula dentata Aristolochia baetica Erica arborea Cistus lanifedus on lines: A-498 (kidney carcinoma), HepG2 (hepatocellular PLC/PRF/5 (hepatoma), MDA-MB-231 (breast adenocarcinoma), MV-4-11 (biphenotypic B myelomonocytic leukemia), one non-tumorigenic murine fibroblast BALB/3T3 by colorimetric methods using Sulforhodamine (SRB) tetrazolium salt (MTT), enzyme caspases 3/7 activity, cycle analysis flow cytometry. Statistical was performed Shapiro–Wilk Brown–Forsythe tests ensured normality variance equality, respectively, followed one-way ANOVA (Dunnett’s Tukey’s tests) for caspase two-way test) analysis. Results ( Aristolochiaceae ) Lamiacea e) antiproliferative properties 3/7-independent which implies induces death through non-apoptotic mechanisms. Extracts lavender aristolochia exhibit disrupting progression, leading accumulation dead cells sub-G1 phase. Conclusion These two species show promising therapeutic as agents, operating mechanisms distinct those conventional chemotherapeutic agents.

Abstract Objective Cervical cancer (CxCa) stands as a significant global health challenge, ranking fourth in cancer-related mortality among the female population. While chemotherapy regimens have demonstrated incremental progress extending overall survival, outlook for recurrent CxCa patients remains disheartening. An imperative necessity arises to delve into innovative therapeutic avenues, with molecular targeted therapy emerging promising candidate. Previous investigations shed light on effectiveness of five distinct herbal compounds, epicatechin, curcumin, myricetin, jatrorrhizine, and arborinine, within context CxCa. Methods A systems biology approach was employed discern differentially expressed genes (DEGs) tissues relative healthy cervical epithelial tissues. protein–protein interaction network (PPIN) constructed, anchored related The central were discerned PPIN, Kaplan–Meier survival curves explored their prognostic significance. assessment binding affinity selected compounds master regulator markers conducted. The influence of the flow rate (solvent ratio), temperature, and static time applied during was evaluated in removal interest, with pressure fixed at 10 MPa. application 1 mL min–1 (22.5 g–1) provided greater L-Dopa total phenolic (TPC). temperature (120 °C) increased L-Dopa, TPC, flavonoids (TF), providing antioxidant activity (AA). Furthermore, 20 min preceding dynamic promoted a percentage increase ∼41.2% ∼61.5% respectively. In profiled compounds, acids, flavonoids, anthocyanins were phytochemicals identified. extract obtained under ideal conditions allowed mass yield ∼58.1 wt %, active potential levels TF, as well AA, validating high suggesting allelopathic extract.

Flavonoids are the most abundant functional compounds distributed in higher plants, and used as important dietary components for human health protection. The development of natural flavonoids, such food or medicinal food, has received extensive attention recent years. extraction, separation, quantitation flavonoids key techniques utilization flavonoid resources. traditional methods extraction separation always toxic solvents, which produce residues pollute environment. Based on an analysis literature resources, utilization, quantitation, green were summarized. First, by hot water ethanol, assisted pressurization microwave-ultrasonication, then concentration precipitation cool ethanol ethanol/water specific ratios. This method could obtain over 85% purity first cycle 95% after three cycles commonly dihydromyricetin, rutin, quercetin. In conclusion, showed great prospects protection disease treatment. Chemical structure-based using water–ethanol with pressurization, temperature regulation proved to be efficient environmentally friendly, showing potential industry. These “green” processing mechanisms deserve further research.
