ABSTRACT Little is known about the reproductive biology of endangered spinetail devil ray ( Mobula mobular ). Here, we describe behavior, estimates age, size at maturity, embryonic development in uterine cavity, and morphology a neonate produced by male female kept Osaka Aquarium KAIYUKAN for 7.5 years. The behaviors observed included initiation, endurance, evasion, pre‐copulation positioning, copulation, separation. disc widths (DW) rays displaying were 203 204 cm, respectively. was estimated to be 7.7 years old after elongation claspers, while 8.9 first mating. A born 464 days successful weighing 11.32 kg, with DW 104 cm. These observations are consistent those previous studies conducted on wild individuals. This one few reports behavior ray. Research this species captivity expected help fill knowledge gaps poorly studied species.

Mobula hypostoma (Bancroft, 1831), Atlantic Pygmy Devil Rays, were observed during megafauna surveys in the shallow coastal waters off Republic of Congo. These are first records this species its natural habitat Congolese waters, which may well offer an important for these batoids, but further research is needed. There urgent need management measures to protect M. throughout African range, particularly view recent increase fishing activities within region.
