Xylose fermentation often faced limitations coupled with unbalanced microbial intracellular metabolic states. Recent development in cathodic electro-fermentation technologies addresses this issue by balancing states and influencing the intercellular electron load of various microorganisms a cathode electrode. This research studied feeding strategies mixed culture systems aiming at long-term enhancement production rates or yields carboxylic acids e.g., propionate butyrate, using xylose as raw material. The results compared fed-batch continuous (poised potential -0.4 V vs. standard hydrogen electrode) their community compositions. highlighted prompt uninterrupted cathode-assisted metabolism towards butyrate than systems, enhanced product yield coefficients (propionate 1.57-fold, 1.64-fold) reactors poised to open-circuit controls. 16S rRNA gene characterisation revealed different operation modes that influence presence bacterial genera, including Clostridium biofilm planktonic cells, which notably played crucial role processes.

Methanol assisted microbial electrosynthesis (MES) enables butyrate production from carbon dioxide and methanol using external electricity. However, the effects of operational parameters on formation remain unclear. By running three flat plate MES reactors with fed-batch mode at controlled pH values (5.5, 6 7), present study investigated influence by comparing process performance, community structure, genetic potential. The highest selectivity (87 % basis) rate 0.3 g L-1 d-1 were obtained 6. At 7, a comparable was achieved, yet lower (70 %) accompanied acetate production. Butyrate considerably hindered 5.5, reaching 0.1 d-1, while reached up to 81 %. CO2 consumption increased pH, along more negative cathodic potential redox Furthermore, affected thermodynamical feasibility involved reactions. results metagenomic analyses suggest that Eubacterium callanderi dominated communities all values, which responsible for assimilation via Wood-Ljungdahl pathway likely main producer reverse β-oxidation pathway.

Acute methanol poisoning could be associated with high morbidities and fatalities. Stratifying high-risk patients is crucial in improving their prognosis. Hence, this study aimed to identify at risk of in-hospital mortality. Also, the factors for blindness were assessed. The included 180 acutely methanol-poisoned who received standard medical care. Out patients, 52 (28.9 %) presented blindness, 43 (23.9 died. predictive model was based on four significant variables, including mean arterial pressure, serum bicarbonate, creatinine. presence elevated creatinine significantly increased likelihood mortality by 14.274 5.670 times, respectively. Likewise, decreases pressure bicarbonate 0.908 0.407 proposed nomogram exhibited excellent discriminatory power (area under curve (AUC)=0.978, accuracy=93.3 %), which outperforms AUCs individual predictors. provided easily applicable outstanding discrimination, making it clinically helpful predicting patients. Regarding multivariable regression analysis revealed that delayed time admission (OR=1.039; 95 % CI=1.010-1.069;
