Increased hazards threatening the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO)-designated sites endangering cultural heritage community well-being require attention action. Considering pivotal role of UNESCO in conservation development, this study assessed their levels disaster preparedness. The absence studies assessing awareness, risk perception, preparedness among site actors, as well place within Disaster Risk Management (DRM) cycle justifies research. Applying tenets Person-Relative-to-Event framework, we hypothesized that a strong positive correlation exists between perceived risks, resources, To collect pertinent data, employed an embedded mixed-method design conducted online questionnaire survey yielding 141 responses from 59 countries. From results relevant analyses, wildfires, floods, droughts are top occurring frequently sites, with significant concerns about pollution habitat loss during future events. Smartphones emerged most available crucial DRM resource, higher availability resources correlating positively significantly sites' Our findings contribute valuable insights to address missing links for disaster-ready resilient promoting preservation generations.

This study contributes an empirical investigation of the likelihood that different external threats to a UNESCO Natural World Heritage Site occur in combination with each other when site characteristics and location are controlled for. For purpose analysis, database State Conservation Reports used nine most frequently appearing identified. These databases include 6852 site-year observations 3316 over period 1979-2023. The commonly identified illegal activities, eleven percent all mining six percent. Transport infrastructure, tourism visitor pressure also common threats. Abstract While World Cultural Heritage Sites in developing countries are fewer number, they over-represented the List of Danger, and few scientific studies conducted about them. This study investigates factors that threaten selected Asian countries, intensity these threats, management capacity to respond Linked data from UNESCO Periodic Report (Cycle II), Site database, Köppen–Geiger climate classification is analysed using logit ordered models. The results show perceived likelihood a major threat highest for (i) sudden ecological or geological events (d y /d x = 0.18, p < 0.01), (ii) change severe weather 0.1, 0.05), (iii) local conditions affecting physical fabric (iv) social–cultural use heritage 0.10, while high illegal human activities (dy/d 0.27, 0.01) invasive/alien hyper-abundant species 0.21, 0.01). In addition, sites Philippines Afghanistan most likely report threats as major, but least compared other countries. Further, this region do not have correspondingly (or even adequate) identified major. study, therefore, concludes studied highly vulnerable primarily natural rather than socio-economic human-induced causes. contributes novel insights into risk vulnerability

Abstract In this study, a novel measure of interest in all (264) natural or mixed World Heritage sites sourced from an online platform is contrasted with the degree and number threats as formally identified by UNESCO (in its State Conservation database) IUCN Outlook Assessment reporting), when typical site characteristics are accounted for. Information on TripAdvisor reviews digitally measure, originate database including size, year inscription, kind well distinction between fully sites. Results reveal that both relate to years certain extent continent. The threat reacts except analysis reveals measures popularity site, although does not automatically mean it also threatened.

This study examines factors associated with threats to Cultural World Heritage Sites as perceived by their management. Employed for the analysis are data on 396 UNESCO in North America and Europe well 2158 identified Second Cycle of Periodic Reporting 2014. One out seven sites report that there no at all 2.5% do not provide information threats. Probit models show inscribed early, those considered "masterpieces" located certain countries more likely a threat. Ordered estimations, including three levels (negligible, minor major), reveal degree threat perception is highest entire cultural cities landscapes. The severity also varies kind country location. Climate change severe weather sudden geological events have probability being major third group most frequently mentioned encompasses local conditions affecting physical fabric, social/cultural use heritage (tourism/visitors/recreation) buildings development.

This study aims to investigate the influence of pre-entrepreneurial career mobility frequency and job changes among returning migrant workers (RMWs) on innovation level enterprises, with a particular focus mediating role urban social capital accumulated by RMWs. Using data from "current entrepreneurial status RMWs", we applied an ordered probit model validate our hypotheses. To address endogeneity, recursive bivariate was used, stepwise regression combined bootstrap methods employed ascertain capital. Our results demonstrate significant positive correlation (P < 0.01) between enterprises However, there's notable negative experiences as elementary enterprise level, while technical marketing roles correlate positively level. Urban mediates relationship suggesting that enhance accumulation, influencing RMWs' levels. empirical evidence holds even after robustness tests. We further observed RMWs fewer than three moves lean towards low innovation, those or more gravitate high innovation. advances theory enriches understanding Additionally, it provides critical theoretical insights for prospective entrepreneurs in strategizing their changes. Policy implications suggest that, addition providing support, government should facilitate channels consider transition rural employment socialized ritual engaging entrepreneurship.

Water is at the forefront of climate change and seen as a major channel through which effects are felt. The function water heritage closely related to bodies on it depends. Under change, conservation tourism uses resources facing impacts challenges. Taking Beijing Section Grand Canal China case, this research applied adaptation theory explore section in Beijing. It was identified that changes temperature precipitation formed climate-related stimuli along from 2012 2021 Second, supply side tourism, policies were formulated national or municipal level respond changing its uses. Natural-based solutions (NbS) have been rehabilitate ecosystem Canal, contributing enhanced landscape, providing opportunities for ecological education. Third, demand side, high participation examined during high-temperature years. Meanwhile, increasing tourist needs spaces activities observed with evident seasonal patterns. Accordingly, suggestions perspective proposed. For conservation, actions restoration monitoring should be further implemented. To assist sustainable development proposed enhance overall planning, increase accessibility, interpretation tourists.
