With the constant advancement of irrigation technology and continuous expansion areas, non-point source pollution (NPS) caused by agricultural activities has posed a persistent threat to ecosystems biological safety. Against this backdrop, it is imperative lay scientific foundations for green, sustainable, high-quality development through thorough review relevant research progress. In study, bibliometric methods are adopted comprehensively analyze visualize current state key literature on NPS from 2010 July 2024. The focus study specifically summarizing hotspots trends different mechanisms behind their impacts pollution. results indicate that publications United States China account 63.8% total, but fragmentation efforts remains, suggesting necessity strengthen international regional collaboration. There three institutions with highest publication output, namely Northwest A&F University, Hohai Chinese Academy Sciences. subjects identified as areas irrigation-related (IRR-NPS) include precision irrigation, rapid water response, spatiotemporal management, interdisciplinary integration, wastewater treatment, crop models. Regarding future research, necessary attention real-time standardized models, data accuracy, coordination, purification development, integrated governance, innovative applications soil improvement technologies. addition offering theoretical support practical guidance management pollution, also provides technical policymakers, which beneficial advancing environmental preservation.
