Abstract Pseudomonas aeruginosa was used to synthesize anisotropic gold nanoparticles from the unusually reducible aryldiazonium (III) salt of chemical formula [HOOC-4-C 6 H 4 N≡N]AuCl (abbreviated as DS-AuCl ). We investigated effect bacterial cell density, temperature, and pH on AuNP synthesis. The density 6.0 × 10 8 CFU/mL successfully reduced 0.5 mM AuNPs after incubation at 37 °C (24 h), 42 25 (48 h). Transmission electron microscopy (TEM) images revealed formation spherical, triangle, star, hexagon, truncated triangular morphologies for synthesized using P. bacteria. average size h) 39.0 ± 9.1 nm, 26.0 8.1 36.7 7.7 respectively. 3.7, 7.0, 12.7 14.7 3.8 7.3 2.5 respectively, with decreasing a 12.7. reduction confirmed X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). significant peaks C1s, Au4f doublet, N1s, O1s are centered 285, 84–88, 400, 532 eV. ability inactivated bacteria (autoclave-dead mechanically lysed bacteria), peptidoglycan, lipopolysaccharides reduce also investigated. Anisotropic were peptidoglycan but not lipopolysaccharides. demonstrated biocompatibility human RBCs safe, no antibacterial activities against Escherichia coli Staphylococcus aureus . This is first report demonstrating synthesis gold(III) salts These promising candidates exploring potential applications in nanomedicine drug delivery.
