Cellulosic biomass is the most abundantly available natural carbon-based renewable resource on Earth. Its widespread availability, combined with rising awareness, evolving policies, and changing regulations supporting sustainable practices, has propelled its role as a crucial feedstock to meet escalating demand for eco-friendly materials, chemicals, fuels. Initially, biorefinery models using cellulosic had focused single-product platform, primarily monomeric sugars biofuel. However, since launch of first pioneering plants in 2014, these have undergone significant revisions adapt their upgrading strategy. These changes aim diversify bioproduct portfolio improve revenue streams biorefineries. Within this area research development, enzyme-based technologies can play by contributing eco-design producing creating innovative bioproducts. This Feature Article highlights our strategies recent progress utilizing biological diversity inherent selectivity enzymes develop continuously optimize distinct application approaches. We advanced standalone platforms, which produce various forms cellulose nanomaterials engineered customized enhanced properties high yields. Additionally, we tailored integration within concept. approach prioritizes designing processes establish bionanomaterials, such lignin nanoparticles, bioactive molecules part new multi-bioproduct platform innovations expand range bioproducts that be produced from biomass, transcending conventional focus biofuel production include biomaterials biorefinery. shift thereby contributes strengthening Bioeconomy strategy achievement several Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) 2030 Agenda Development.
