Chinese bayberry (Myrica rubra or Morella rubra) is a valuable fruit, yet the mechanism of its flesh segment development not well understood. Using paraffin sectioning, we investigated flower buds 'Biqi' and 'Zaojia' varieties, revealing that in these varieties involved formation primordium outside ovary wall, establishment simple columnar structure, primary segment. Assessment endogenous hormone levels indicated significant reductions jasmonic acid (JA) indole-3-acetic (IAA) at critical stages development. Correlation analysis highlighted essential roles IAA, JA, abscisic (ABA), gibberellins developmental process, underscoring complex interactions driven primarily by ABA networks. Gene modules positively correlated with were identified using transcriptome-based weighted gene co-expression network (WGCNA). Differentially expressed genes (DEGs) enriched plant signal transduction pathways, particularly for upregulated associated auxin JA signaling. Key predicted to be included LAX2 LAX3 (auxin transport), JAZ6 (JA signaling repression), KAN1 KAN4 (regulating multiple hormonal pathways). Quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction (qRT-PCR) validation confirmed expression trends consistent across both CRC, SEP1, SEP3, IAA7, JAZ6. Immunofluorescence localization studies revealed was distributed central vascular bundle outer cells This uneven distribution might contribute unique morphology segments.
