Background The field of otolaryngology has achieved remarkable progress over the past decade due to technological advancements and interdisciplinary integration. Understanding research trends hotspots is essential drive further innovation development. Methods A comprehensive search was conducted on Web Science November 22, 2024, identify top 1,000 most-cited publications from 2014 2024. Data were analyzed using GraphPad Prism v8.0.2, CiteSpace (6.2.4R), VOSviewer (1.6.18) visualize networks. Results annual publication volume in decreased after 2014, with United States dominating both count citation frequency. Influential journals prominent authors identified, areas expanded beyond traditional clinical management fields. Chronic rhinosinusitis, olfactory dysfunction, machine learning emerged as key hotspots. Conclusion Otolaryngology made significant across multiple domains. Future should focus integrating artificial intelligence into practice, fostering collaborations, advancing precision medicine translational research. These efforts will be critical for addressing emerging challenges capitalizing new opportunities field.
