Improving barley grain quality is a major goal in breeding. In this study, total of 35 papers focusing on quantitative trait loci (QTLs) mapping for traits published since 2000 were collected. Among the 454 QTLs identified these studies, 349 them mapped onto high-density consensus maps, which used QTL meta-analysis. Through meta-analysis, initial integrated into 41 meta-QTLs (MQTLs) with an average confidence interval (CI) 1. 66 cM, 88.9% narrower than that QTLs. MQTLs, 25 subsequently validated publications using genome-wide association study (GWAS). From ten breeder’s MQTLs selected. Synteny analysis comparing and wheat revealed orthologous relationships between eight 45 MQTLs. Additionally, 17 homologs associated rice within regions through comparative analysis. The findings provide valuable insights molecular marker-assisted breeding identification candidate genes related to barley.

Aegilops tauchii is a D-genome donor of hexaploid wheat and potential source genes for various biotic abiotic stresses including heat drought. In the present study, we used multi-stage evaluation technique to understand effects drought on Ae. tauschii derived introgression lines (ILs). Preliminary (during stage-I) 369 ILs agronomic traits identified 59 agronomically superior ILs. second stage (stage-II), selected ( i.e. , ILs) were evaluated seedling (at 30 °C 35 °C) 20% poly-ethylene glycol; PEG) stress tolerance under growth chambers (stage-II). Heat significantly reduced vigour by 59.29 60.37 percent, respectively. Genotype × treatment interaction analysis index (STI) IL-50, IL-56, IL-68 as high-performing IL-42 IL-44 stress. It also revealed IL-50 stable stresses. Furthermore, in third (stage-III), field condition over two cropping seasons (viz., 2020–21 2021–22), which grain yield 72.79 48.70 Stability was performed identify IL-47, IL-51, IL-259 most stage-III. Tolerant with specific wider adaptability this study can serve resources genetic basis they be utilized developing high-yielding cultivars enhanced tolerance.

Biofortification represents a promising and sustainable strategy for mitigating global nutrient deficiencies. However, its successful implementation poses significant challenges. Among staple crops, wheat emerges as prime candidate to address these nutritional gaps. Wheat biofortification offers robust approach enhance cultivars by elevating the micronutrient levels in grains, addressing one of most crucial concerns present era.

A meta-analysis of QTLs associated with grain protein content (GPC) was conducted in hexaploid and tetraploid wheat to identify robust stable meta-QTLs (MQTLs). For this purpose, as many 459 GPC-related retrieved from 48 linkage-based QTL mapping studies were projected onto the newly developed consensus map. The analysis resulted prediction 57 MQTLs 7 hotspots located on all chromosomes (except 1D 4D) average confidence interval reduced 2.71-fold compared initial QTLs. physical regions occupied by ranged 140 bp 224.02 Mb an 15.2 Mb, whereas 1.81 36.03 a mean 8.82 Mb. Nineteen two also found be co-localized 45 significant SNPs identified 16 previously published genome-wide association wheat. Candidate gene (CG) investigation within some selected led identification 705 models which included 96 high-confidence CGs showing expressions different grain-related tissues having probable roles GPC regulation. These significantly expressed mainly involved genes/gene families encoding for following proteins: aminotransferases, early nodulin 93, glutamine synthetases, invertase/pectin methylesterase inhibitors, BIG GRAIN 1-like, cytochrome P450, glycosyl transferases, hexokinases, small GTPases, UDP-glucuronosyl/UDP-glucosyltransferases, EamA, SANT/Myb, GNAT, thioredoxin, phytocyanin, homeobox domains containing proteins. Further, eight genes including GPC-B1, Glu-B1-1b, Glu-1By9, TaBiP1, GSr, TaNAC019-A, TaNAC019-D, bZIP-TF SPA already known detected MQTL confirming efficacy predicted during current study.
