Abstract The present paper introduces a modified flower pollination algorithm (FPA) enhanced by evolutionary operators to solve the uncapacitated facility location problem (UFLP), which is one of well-known science problems. aim in UFLP select some locations open facilities among certain number candidate so as minimize total cost, sum opening costs and transportation costs. Since binary optimization problem, FPA, introduced real-valued problems, redesigned be able conduct search domains. This constitutes contributions study. In this context, such crossover mutation are adopted proposed FPA. Next, operator further making use an adaptive procedure that greater level diversity at earlier iterations encourages intensification toward end search. Thus, while premature convergence local optima problems avoided, more intensified around found promising regions performed. Secondarily, demonstrated study, reported procedures, FPA run spaces without employing any additional auxiliary procedures transfer functions. All available benchmarking instances solved approach. As comprehensive experimental study includes statistically verified results, developed approach can extended numerous
