Abstract Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics classes are mainly taught using visual supports. However, the advancement of technology increasing efforts to equip schools with digital instrumentation have opened up possibility exploring new teaching avenues, such as sonification. We explored efficacy sonification in education a novel interactive tool, Edukoi, context astronomy, which is predominantly disseminated through spectacular images, animations, visuals. Edukoi motion-sensing tool that converts images sound real-time for educational applications. Our study, conducted nearly 150 middle-school students, included preliminary questionnaire investigating perception, engagement, motivation students towards science; two sessions dedicated testing assessing potentiality software recognition colour shape real sketchy images; final second administration capture possible beneficial effect use engagement science. Results showed effectiveness reasonable identification. Although did not reveal an increment science over time oral feedback from was positive. presents alternative aid, potentially benefiting diverse learners, including visually impaired. Further developments needed enhance its conveying more complex features composite colours or shapes.
