This paper presents an augmented reality (AR) mobile application developed for Android devices, which brings five bust sculptures of historical personalities the city Komotini, Greece, to ‘life’ using Unity engine. These busts narrate their achievements in two languages, Greek and English, educate visitors on cultural heritage provide a comprehensive glimpse into area’s past 3D models, textures, animations tailored educational content. Based users’ location, provides interactive experience, allowing users explore history characteristics innovative way. The may interact with markerless AR, discover information facts about them, stimulate understanding busts’ significance context local culture. Virtual reality (VR) offers immersive and interactive experiences that enable users to explore understand heritage sites beyond the constraints of physical preservation. This study examines integration VR in historical architecture, focusing on its potential enhance education, engagement, preservation efforts. Perspectives from professionals architectural history, interior design, digital humanities are analysed assess fidelity, challenges, opportunities utilisation preserving sites. A quantitative methodology was employed through an online survey distributed 60 experts, which 57 responses were recorded. The examined reconstruction accuracy, challenges for enhancing educational engagement site findings indicate a strong positive perception VR’s potential, emphasising accuracy expert collaboration. Challenges include hardware limitations insufficient data, while balancing fidelity with usability emerged as key concern. concludes holds significant enrich learning, contributing valuable insights into effective engaging applications conservation.
