Abstract
The
pursuit
of
a
sustainable
environment
is
common
goal
for
many
nations;
however,
achieving
this
has
become
increasingly
difficult
due
to
country‐specific
risks,
often
referred
as
country
risk.
Despite
its
importance,
the
relationship
between
risk
and
environmental
outcomes
still
in
early
stages
exploration.
This
study
aims
bridge
gap
by
examining
influence
on
India's
ecological
footprint
within
an
asymmetric
empirical
framework,
while
accounting
economic
growth
coal
energy
consumption.
Utilizing
nonlinear
autoregressive
distributed
lag
(NARDL)
estimator,
analysis
covers
data
from
1984
2018.
findings
reveal
that
positive
changes
financial
contribute
improvement
significantly
reducing
footprint,
whereas
negative
