Blood purification is indispensable in addressing various conditions such as liver dysfunction, autoimmune diseases, and renal failure whereby toxins have to be cleared from the bloodstream effectively. Conventional methods that involve hemoperfusion, hemodialysis, hemofiltration possess several weaknesses, including loss of plasma components inefficient clearance high molecular weight solutes. This review explores current developments blood techniques particularly stimuli-responsive polymers for use extracorporeal therapy among other applications. Many aspects engineering are described terms their role removal small soluble molecules techniques. The development systems has introduced a new paradigm by enabling selective, on-demand control polymer parameters response external stimuli temperature, pH, electrolytes, light. Such advanced materials been demonstrated potential toxin clearance, minimizing thrombosis, improving compatibility antifouling, which far much better than traditional approaches.
