Abstract The mud crab (Scylla paramamosain Estampador, 1950) holds significant economic value within China’s farming industry. artificial propagation of juvenile crabs nevertheless remains in its early stages, with heavy reliance on wild-caught seed stock. Key challenges aquaculture include the prolonged embryonic development period, difficulty controlling developmental processes, and a tendency toward desynchronization. Gaining thorough understanding process is crucial for providing theoretical foundation improving reproduction breeding this species. We utilized transcriptome sequencing to investigate gene expression patterns across five critical stages development: blastula, nauplius, eyespot, heartbeating, prehatching. Our results revealed that marked variations during development, differences observed eyespot stages. By contrast, profiles heartbeat prehatching were more closely aligned. categorized into six distinct clusters, highlighting complexity processes. analysis also indicated immune-related genes pathways highly expressed levels decreasing as progressed. related nutrition energy metabolism showed gradual upregulation study sheds light dynamic changes crab, elucidating key biological processes at each stage valuable insights future cultivation strategies.
