ABSTRACT The massive discharge of coal fly ash and sewage sludge has placed great pressure on the environment society. This study proposes a feasible method for producing lightweight subgrade bricks from sludge. results show that mainly consist mullite (3Al2O3·2SiO2), hematite (Fe2O3), sillimanite (Al2SiO5), aluminum phosphate (AlPO4), small amount cristobalite (SiO2). formation AlPO4 improved sintering mechanical properties sintered samples. voids cracks in samples was primarily attributable to combustion shrinkage organic matter mixture. maximum compressive flexural strengths were observed when content 40 wt. %, corresponding strength 19.86 8.57 MPa, respectively. An appropriate improves connections between particles promotes densification bricks. These provide direction development applications field building materials.
