The proportion of new HIV diagnoses among older adults aged ≥50 years continues to rise. Older are at higher risk late diagnosis which is associated with treatment complexity and poorer health outcomes. Few studies in the Asia-Pacific region have explored factors contributing presentation this population. Thus, our study aimed explore influencing Malaysia. We conducted in-depth interviews 16 newly diagnosed (OPLWH) focus group discussions seven healthcare providers (HCPs) from different specialties an academic tertiary hospital All sessions were audio-recorded, transcribed verbatim analysed thematically. Three main themes related OPLWH emerged: (1) challenge recognizing symptoms persons, (2) persons HCPs having low index suspicion (3) poor acceptance testing due perceived personal social identities. often missed these collectively culminated experiencing complex diagnostic journeys resulting diagnosis. To reduce delays diagnosis, strategies needed improve knowledge perception both HCPs.
