Major depressive disorder (MDD) which is a widespread worldwide cause disruption in some brain functions and thus leads to network changes. An increasing number of clinical cognitive neuroscience studies have used broadband EEG microstate method assess the electrical activity large-scale cortical networks; however, topographic frequency patterns different categories MDD patients are not clear. In this study, spectra were analyzed using 5-min resting-state electroencephalography (EEG) data from 55 subjects (including 27 28 healthy controls) with variational empirical mode decomposition Hilbert-Huang transform. The results showed that D other microstates (A, C, E) display opposite patterns. Most specifically, beta band, marginal spectral energies A, E increased compared HCs, while energy was decreased. Meanwhile, we observed A C band positively correlated severity symptoms, suggesting alterations can serve as an important reference for disease progression. These confirm abnormalities beta-band patient provide new perspective exploring psychomotor function MDD.

Abstract The present study aimed to investigate the spontaneous dynamics of large‐scale brain networks underlying mindfulness as a dispositional trait, through resting‐state electroencephalography (EEG) microstates analysis. Eighteen participants had attended standardized mindfulness‐based stress reduction training (MBSR), and 18 matched waitlist individuals (CTRL) were recorded at rest while they passively exposed auditory stimuli. Participants' traits assessed with Five Facet Mindfulness Questionnaire (FFMQ). To further explore relationship between microstate traits, also asked rate their experience according five phenomenal dimensions. After training, MBSR showed highly significant increase in FFMQ score, well higher observing non‐reactivity sub‐scores than CTRL participants. Microstate analysis revealed four classes (A–D) global clustering across all subjects. group lower duration, occurrence coverage C control group. Moreover, these parameters negatively correlated participants, whereas A was total score. Further participants' self‐reports suggested that better sensory‐affective integration interferences. In line previous studies, our results suggest temporal underlie specifically trait mindfulness. These findings encourage research into evaluation monitoring impact interventions on mental health well‐being individuals.

Introduction At present, elucidating the cortical origin of EEG microstates is a research hotspot in field EEG. Previous studies have suggested that prefrontal cortex closely related to microstate C and D, but whether there causal link between or D remains unclear. Methods In this study, pretrial data were collected from ten patients with lesions (mainly located inferior middle frontal gyrus) fourteen matched healthy controls, analysis was applied. Abstract Oxytocin (OXT) modulates social behaviors. However, the administration of exogenous OXT in humans produces inconsistent behavioral changes, affecting future consideration as a treatment for autism and other disorders with symptoms. Inter‐individual variability functioning traits might play key role how changes brain activity and, therefore, behavior. Here, we investigated if inter‐individual dictate single‐dose intranasal (IN‐OXT) spontaneous neural during eyes‐open resting state. We used double‐blinded, randomized, placebo‐controlled, cross‐over design on 30 typically developing young adult men to investigate dynamics EEG microstates corresponding defined networks. confirmed previous reports that, at group level, IN‐OXT increases representation attention salience microstates. Furthermore, identified decreased associated default mode network. Using multivariate partial least square statistical analysis, found that IN‐OXT‐induced microstate specific spectral bands. Correlation analysis further revealed higher functioning, more increased appearance visual network‐associated microstate, suppressed network‐related microstate. The lower effects report support hypothesis regulates behavior by enhancing salience. Moreover, our findings indicate modulate responses could partially explain effects.

The overarching goal is contribute a deeper understanding neurodynamic patterns associated with regulation, potentially informing development biomarkers for therapeutic interventions mood anxiety disorders. Methods Utilizing EEG microstate analysis during we investigated five distinct microstates across different conditions, including baseline resting state valence (e.g., awe, contentment) anger, fear). Results revealed noteworthy modulations states. Additionally, valence-specific mechanisms spontaneous regulation were identified.
