Abstract Although researchers have considered the role of morality in consumer psychology over years, such investigations often fail to (a) recognize different values that consumers might hold, and (b) provide proper context for why moral considerations emerge. Moral Foundations Theory (MFT; Graham et al., Advances experimental social , 2013, Academic Press; Haidt & Joseph, Daedalus 2004, 133, 55) provides just a conceptual framework understanding diversity thought exists across cultures demographic groups. MFT describes not as monolithic entity, but pluralistic set intuitive were shaped by evolutionary pressures edited distinct cultures. We review central claims describe how theory can offer new insights when applied psychology, providing examples from existing research on persuasion, emotion, prosocial behavior.

Sociological research has long been interested in occupational evaluation. However, remains hampered by conceptual ambiguity and methodological problems. To address these issues, we present new indices of prestige social value for 576 occupation titles aligned with the ILO International Standard Classification Occupations (ISCO-08). Some theories suggest that women anticipate negative consequences (i.e., backlash) for counterstereotypical actions and take steps to avoid those consequences. We propose may expect gender-based backlash voicing, or contributing ideas challenge the status quo, thus engage in more silence (withholding contributions) than men. However, we also gender backlash, hence silence, only when other group members’ behavior signals deviating from prescribed norms is risky.
