ABSTRACT Fe‐catalyzed tandem cross‐dehydrogenative coupling of the methylarenes with o ‐phenylenediamine/2‐aminothiophenol as partners has been developed for synthesis benzimidazoles and benzothiazoles. Various 2‐aryl benzimidazoles/thiazoles were synthesized high efficiency from cost‐effective raw materials using tert ‐butyl hydroperoxide (TBHP) an environmentally benign oxidant without any co‐promoter additional oxidizing reagent.
