The chemical modification of cellulose is a topic interest in several industrial fields. present study focuses on the analysis functionalized powders and fibers using mechanochemistry. Hydrophobic cellulosic materials have been obtained by reacting with octadecyl isocyanate ball milling device under solvent-free conditions at relatively short reaction times (from 5 to 180 min). Morphological, structural, changes are monitored through direct indirect characterization techniques, including Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), X-ray photoelectron (XPS), nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR), environmental scanning electron microscopy (E-SEM), diffraction (XRD). These analyses demonstrate that undergo simultaneous grafting comminution. Consequently, yielded either hydrophobic fibrous or powdery depending time. results indicate amorphization rate constrained when occurs. Such promising advanced potential be used biocomposite sustainable packaging.
