The study aims to understand the hydrochemical characteristics and groundwater suitability for agricultural drinking purposes. For this purpose, 21 samples were collected, major physicochemical parameters such as pH, EC, TDS, temp, salinity, Ca2+, Mg2+, Na+, K+, HCO3−, Cl−, SO42− analyzed, followed by standard analytical procedures. Different quality graphical representations constructed using Aqua Chem software. results indicate alkaline with fresh moderate saline in nature, sixty-eight percent of suitable accordance WHO, thirty-two unsuitable due excess amount different ionic concentrations derived from natural various anthropogenic sources. Irrigation water SAR, PI, Na %, RSBC, MR, KR used irrigation suitability. US salinity diagram exemplifies that most fall C3S1 category high hazard low alkali hazard. Wilcox plot reveals 80% found under very good permissible limits, few doubtful salinity. Permeability index values show is irrigation. Three facies identified dominance order mixed CaMgCl, NaCl, CaCl. Gibb’s suggests evaporation rock-water interaction are dominant mechanisms controlling chemistry present area.

Groundwater contamination by nitrate and heavy metals is a growing global concern due to its detrimental effects on human health through ingestion dermal exposure. This study aimed assess the concentrations of (Pb, Cu, Cd, Fe) in groundwater evaluate associated risks among different age groups (females, males, children) Nnewi Awka regions southeast Nigeria. Standard methods were followed. Ten samples collected from each locality, their physicochemical parameters analyzed. The evaluation metal levels was conducted using cancer hazard index as indicators public impact. results showed that while within acceptable limits, exceeded permissible all samples. Carcinogenic risk (CR) analysis revealed approximately 40% 80% permitted range ≤1 × 10 −6–1 −4. In region, order toxicity Cd > Pb Cu Fe, Awka, it resulting severe non-carcinogenic hazards for users. identified most significant contaminants impacting water quality both regions. Children exhibited greater vulnerability compared adults areas. These findings contribute our understanding localized contamination, highlight children, emphasize importance regular monitoring management practices.

Combining hydrogeochemical characterization and a hyperspectral reflectance measurement can provide knowledge for groundwater security under different conditions. In this study, comprehensive examinations of 173 samples were carried out in Makkah Al-Mukarramah Province, Saudi Arabia. Physicochemical parameters, water quality indices (WQIs), spectral (SRIs) combined to investigate controlling factors using multivariate modeling techniques, such as partial least-square regression (PLSR) principal component (PCR). To measure status, the drinking index (DWQI), total dissolved solids (TDS), heavy metal (HPI), contamination degree (Cd), pollution (PI) calculated. Standard analytical methods used assess nineteen physicochemical parameters. The typical values ions metals follows: Na2+ > Ca2+ Mg2+ K+, Cl− SO42− HCO3− NO3− CO32−; Cu Fe Al Zn Mn Ni, respectively. characteristics examined revealed that Ca-HCO3, Na-Cl, mixed Ca-Mg-Cl-SO4, Na-Ca-HCO3 main mechanisms governing chemistry load seawater intrusion, weathering, water-rock interaction. According WQIs results, DWQI 2.5% categorized excellent, 18.0% good, 28.0% poor, 21.5% extremely 30.0% unfit drinking. HPI Cd all had low better quality.
