Fuel and oil spills during the exploration, refining, distribution of petrochemicals are primarily responsible for accumulation organic pollutants in environment. The reduction contamination caused by hydrocarbons, heavy metals, oily effluents, particulate matter generated industrial activities efficient recovery at great depths an environmentally friendly way pose a challenge, as cleaning processes require direct application surface-active agents, detergents, degreasers, or solvents, often generating other environmental problems due to toxicity these substances. Thus, natural agents is attractive solution. Due their amphipathic structures, microbial surfactants solubilize through formation small aggregates (micelles) that disperse water, with numerous applications petroleum industry. Biosurfactants have proven usefulness solubilizing trapped rock, which prerequisite enhanced (EOR). also important biotechnological anti-corrosion processes, preventing incrustations biofilms on metallic surfaces, used formulations emulsifiers/demulsifiers, facilitate transport pipelines, innovative use can reduce generation from synthetic detergents chemical solvents without sacrificing economic gains Therefore, investments essential. It predicted that, not-too-distant future, will become viable standpoint dominate world market. biosurfactants settings would lead growth sustainability. main goal this paper provide overview diverse remediation, biotechnology, industry scientific literature review.

Pesticides intoxication affects aquatic organisms as well a group of contaminants that are represented by crude oil, petroleum hydrocarbons (PHs), polycyclic aromatic (PAHs) and their derivatives. Useful tools for ecotoxicological studies marine ecosystems based on biomarker application bioindicator key fish species. The aim the present study was to highlight presence pesticides in coastal environment, harbour Capo d'Orlando town (northeastern Sicily, Italy), using Acetylcholinesterase (AChE) Butyrylcholinesterase (BChE) enzymatic activities species Chelon labrosus. A reference site selected. Chemical analysis water samples also carried out analyze eventually confirm area. Results showed significant inhibition AChE (80%) BChE (77%) from compared site. esterase is primarily due organophosphorus insecticides carbamates, resulted higher concentrations quality standard decree (Ministerial Decree 260, 2010). This highlighted contamination most probably d'Orlando, which represents threat human population consuming affected fish.

Abstract Marine hydrocarbon (HC) spills seriously harm the marine ecosystem and necessitate creation of effective cleanup strategies. For efficient treatment, it is crucial to accurately identify type HC implicated in spill. Diesel oil, gasoline, lubrication waste oil were chosen as experimental starting materials since they are prevalent kinds. This study reports on facile differentiation diesel fuel gasoline engine via induced fluorescence by a laser. The tested material was stimulated with 450-nm blue laser source. characteristic each spill sample captured hyperspectral imaging camera. could be identified their unique signatures at 470 nm 515 nm. Gasoline found less photoluminescent active material, signals 465 585 At 505 nm, lubricating had typical signal. On whole spectrum, there no re-emitted frequencies for oil. Fluorescence secured good discrimination between chemical structures. Signal intensity can contribute further discrimination. selected photoluminescence wavelengths grouping Our approach would provide investigators ability define choose mitigation strategy fast identification. This paper emphasised the importance of proper handling and selection specialised skimmer equipment for accidental pollution with oils. The research was motivated by lack similar papers that offer an extensive recent literature analysis related to use skimmers, ultimate aim present methodology appropriate equipment. Knowledge on characteristics such as capacity, selectivity, speed, pump power is essential efficient fast collection spills. study aimed calculate oil rate individual device different pumps. classification pumps, collecting tanks made according their main features. results showed correlation between capacity skimmers. Due complexity mechanical various devices, it crucial identify connect pump. For these reasons, authors proposed a model which determines optimal combination thirteen skimmers eleven can help shorten time from sea surface provide more smoother response in events marine pollution.

Oil sorbents play a significant role in the treatment processes of oil spills, therefore, enhancing oil-water separation capacity has been charming consideration scientific researchers. To improve properties sorption and simplify process recovery, many advanced sorbent devices have projected recently. Different types materials are used as for separation, however, up to now, there is no review paper focused on textile (woven, knitting, nonwoven) sorbents, compared with them. In this paper, classification fabrics, surface wetting, fabrication methods spill cleanup, their properties, recent applications field cleanup studied. We believe can serve an essential reference formation cleanup.
