Abstract Hydrochemical characteristics in karst area is an important content of basic research on water environment. However, there are few researches the response its hydrochemical to conservation mechanism protected areas, so Huanghou Underground River Basin, a typical basin upstream Libo Karst World Natural Heritage Site China was chosen as study and 82 samples were collected analysed. The results show that: (1) waters whole weakly alkaline, spatial variability ions significant, with obvious fluctuations stabilisation downstream, average values ion concentrations each four seasons that greater than those downstream. (2) chemistry type HCO3-Ca type, composition mainly controlled by weathering rocks; Ca2+, Mg2+ HCO3 body come from dissolution carbonate rock weathering, K+, Na+, Cl, SO42− NO3 input industrial activities agricultural surface sources. (3) bodies significantly impacted human activities, while downstream heritage site's quality remains largely unaffected major anthropogenic disturbances but faces potential threats contamination. management sites require cross-administrative collaboration develop environmental framework tailored distinctive attributes areas. This provides reference for resources Sites.
