Abstract Green innovation is a popular and significant topic, defined as aimed at protecting the environment, conserving energy, promoting sustainability. Despite rapid growth of research in this field, comprehensive summaries remain scarce. This study addresses gap by identifying synthesizing key determinants influencing factors green manufacturing industry. Using systematic literature review, examines 90 articles published between 1971 2024, sourced from Scopus database, with most studies 2009 2024. The results indicate that multidimensional concept, its categorized into 10 clusters: organizational factors, industrial collaboration market environmental government policy technological corporate social responsibility (CSR) finance investment dynamic capability energy factors. While organizational, collaboration, have been extensively studied, areas such capabilities, technology require further exploration. Additionally, on influence policy, CSR has gained momentum recent years. also analyzes most-cited papers co-authorship networks innovation, along co-occurrence analysis keywords selected articles. Based on the panel data from 268 prefecture-level cities in China 2011–2020, this study explores impact of digital economy China’s carbon emissions and its mechanisms. The results reveal that has a significant urban emission reduction effect, robustness test confirm reliability conclusion. heterogeneity analysis indicates regional city endowment influences with effect being relatively stronger eastern region high-grade cities, whereas is not notable central western regions low-grade cities. In addition, development non-resource can reduce emissions, although peripheral resource remains uncertain. Further mediation tests show occurs through energy consumption reduction, industrial structure upgrading, green technology innovation. This contributes to deeper understanding relationship between which for formulating policies emissions.
