Himalayan destinations, rich in natural and cultural wealth, are increasingly vulnerable to ecological degradation due unregulated tourism growth. This research examines community-driven ecotourism (CDE) as a model reconcile economic imperatives with environmental stewardship Ladakh, region facing rapid expansion fragility. Using qualitative case study approach, the draws on semi-structured interviews 22 stakeholders, including community leaders, entrepreneurs, experts, hospitality managers. Thematic analysis reveals interplay between local engagement, preservation, resilience. Purpose Food waste persists as a critical subject within global academic debates, with consumption identified the primary stage of loss across both affluent and developing nations. Anchored in adapted theory planned behavior, this study examines multifaceted determinants shaping consumer tendencies to reduce food while also exploring nuanced roles religious adherence culinary preferences influencing intentions perceptions toward reduction. By dissecting these dynamics, research endeavors unravel complex interplay psychological, cultural contextual factors, thereby enriching theoretical discourse presenting actionable insights for systemic change. Design/methodology/approach Data from 476 participants were acquired through an online survey rigorously interrogate proposed model. Confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) ensured construct validity, structural equation modeling (SEM), utilizing SPSS AMOS, disentangled intricate interdependencies among latent constructs hypothesized framework. Findings The reveals that attitudes (β = 0.37) serve most salient predictor their intention curb waste, subjective norms 0.23) demonstrating comparatively modest effect.
