While
many
Vietnamese
students
are
reported
to
study
abroad,
experiences
of
home-making
among
returning
paid
scant
attention
in
current
research
on
international
student
mobility.
Conversations
with
13
graduates
were
conducted

explore
the
sense-making
home
through
a
Heideggerian
perspective
building
and
dwelling
at
home.

analysis

Although
previous
research
has
explored
the
impact
of
global
and
local
forces
on
transnational
higher
education
(TNHE)
at
a
macro
level,
limited
attention
been
paid
to
students'
lived
experiences
navigating
mixed
influences.
To
address
gap,
this
study
conducted
semi-structured
interviews
with
35
Chinese
undergraduates
enrolled
in
two
Sino-foreign
cooperative
universities
(SFCUs).
From
theoretical
lens
paradox,
revealed
inherent
tensions
dynamic
hybrideducational
practices
SFCUs,
arising
from
internationalisation
characteristics.
The
overlapping
values
cosmopolitanism,
nationalism,
neoliberalism,
authoritarianism
have
repercussions
programme
structure,
academic
discourse,
university
management.
findings
indicate
that
students
negotiated
various
manners,
including
following
prevailing
challenging
imagery,
recognising
complexity
situation.

some
develop
hierarchical
binary
thinking
