Abstract
Understanding
spatial
variation
of
species
composition
at
different
scales
is
essential
for
efficient
conservation
planning.
Here,
we
investigate
ecological
uniqueness
patterns
freshwater
macrophyte
assemblages
continental
extents.
We
explored
the
similarities
and
differences
in
between
Europe
North
America
relation
to
richness
environmental
variables
using
presence–absence
data
50
×
km
grid
cells.
To
describe
assemblages,
used
an
index
called
‘local
contribution
beta
diversity’
(LCBD).
First,
linear
regression
evaluate
relationship
richness.

modelling
(GAM).
