The aim of this paper is to describe and analyse the present Swedish fauna freshwater snails, based on material in museum collections, literature, records conservation reports databases. comprises 50 species (42 indigenous 8 introduced). Moreover, 31 out belong superorder Hygrophila. species’ zoogeography, ecology status are highlighted. distributions can roughly be classified according four different geographical groups patterns. 23 have their northern limit within or close limes norrlandicus, an important biogeographical transition zone Central Sweden. history exploration groups/species with taxonomical/determination problems discussed. six species, which National Red List, discussed detail. We investigated of recent lakes’ by determining current mollusc diversity its composition. also reconstruct history faunal change turnover last years discuss future implications One Health context. combined effects rising water crayfish Procambarus clarkii are likely to be responsible for resurgence Naivasha’s fauna. fauna consists three global invaders American origin, one which is new Africa (Pseudosuccinea columella) another only recently begun spread (Pomacea canaliculata). A further native Africa, two known from historical records, while (Bulinus forskalii). All public health (Biomphalaria sudanica) veterinary tropicus, Bulinus forskalii) concern. biodiversity reached same level as times, but composition remarkably different.
