The aim of this paper is to describe and analyse the present Swedish fauna freshwater snails, based on material in museum collections, literature, records conservation reports databases. comprises 50 species (42 indigenous 8 introduced). Moreover, 31 out belong superorder Hygrophila. species’ zoogeography, ecology status are highlighted. distributions can roughly be classified according four different geographical groups patterns. 23 have their northern limit within or close limes norrlandicus, an important biogeographical transition zone Central Sweden. history exploration groups/species with taxonomical/determination problems discussed. six species, which National Red List, discussed detail. Aquatic alien species (AAS) have had a major impact on freshwater ecosystems, including Lake Naivasha in Kenya.
