Preservice Biology Teachers’ Socioscientific Argumentation: Analyzing Structural and Content Complexity in the Context of a Mandatory COVID-19 Vaccination

The
present
study
analyzed
the
structural
and
content
complexity
of
76
preservice
science
teachers'
socioscientific
argumentation
in
context
a
mandatory
COVID-19
vaccination.
Data
were
within
methodological
frame
qualitative
analysis.
Concerning
complexity,
participants'
reached
relatively
high
level
(i.e.,
justifications
with
elaborated
grounds).
content,
sample
referred
to
science-,
ethics-,
society-,
politics-related
arguments
almost
full
range
areas);
however,
on
an
individual
level,
participants
merely
average
two
areas.
Regarding
relationship
between
significant
positive
correlation
was
found.
In
sum,
results
this
suggest
that
is
promisingly
terms
medium
regarding
complexity.

Abstract
There
is

consensus

education
community
that
primary
scientific
literature
legitimate
and
desirable
educational
resource.

quality
