This study investigates the global burden of vision impairment caused by refraction disorders, near loss, and other loss among children adolescents from 1990 to 2021. The analysis is categorized globally sex, age, socio-demographic index (SDI), with a focus on predicting trends 2035. Data were obtained Global Burden Disease Study We reported prevalence disability-adjusted life-years (DALYs) due globally. Then, we described DALYs numbers rate SDI age. Next, analyzed relationship between SDI. Finally, bayesian age-period-cohort (BAPC) model was used predict 2022 2035 sex for disorders had statistically significant trend reduction in four age groups positively associated increasing groups, negatively BAPC indicates that age-specific both men women will remain downward until 2035, while continues rise. findings underscore there are extensive variations based type impairment, group, Policies should be tailored specific types order effectively alleviate burden.

Objective To analyze the prevalence of myopia among children and adolescents in Chengdu from 2021 to 2023, providing insights for prevention control. Methods This study was a school-based cross-sectional aged 3–18 years Hi-tech District City. All students underwent comprehensive ocular measurement, including uncorrected binocular visual acuity (VA), spherical equivalent error (SER) with noncycloplegic autorefraction, corneal radius (CR), axial length (AL). Results Over three-year period overall 38.15%, annual rates 38.74% 2021, 38.67% 2022, 37.03% 2023. The severity increased significantly age ( P < 0.001). consistently higher girls 0.001) 40.17% 39.43% 38.33% 2023 compared 37.03%, 38.05% 35.85% boys years, respectively. school level Mild most common (24.47%), followed by moderate (10.77%) severe (2.91%). mean SER were −1.72 ± 1.57 D −1.32 1.51 −1.42 1.36 AL stable across groups, sample 23.80 1.02 mm 23.79 1.04 23.81 Conclusion Myopic City decreased level, indicating need targeted interventions. Significant changes refraction emphasize importance early intervention regular monitoring an effective management.

Myopia is the most common cause of visual impairment in children and young adults. In order to assess consequences for society, it necessary know temporal trends prevalence, incidence associated factors childhood adolescence, as well rate myopia progression, based on epidemiological research. This paper presents a literature review publications from 2020 up March 2024, supplemented by other relevant publications. The prevalence adolescents Germany almost stable significantly lower than Asia. development influenced outdoor activity, parental myopia, genetics near work, while insufficient time spent outdoors significant controllable risk factor myopia-related complications such myopic maculopathy, glaucoma, retinal detachment.

Background/Objectives: Posterior staphyloma (PS) is a hallmark of pathological myopia corresponding to circumscribed outpouching the eyeball with choroidal thinning and inward scleral deformation at its edges. Its pathogenesis still unclear, thus constituting research priority as prevalence increasing worldwide. Recently, it has been suggested that optic nerve sheaths or oblique muscles are potential promoters PS through traction compression effect they apply eye wall. The inferior muscle (IOM) inserts 1-2 mm from macula. projection insertion accessible by Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT). Before launching prospective studies, we sought detect any (ChT) in temporal vicinity macula measure distance between fovea (FT-distance). Methods: This retrospective cross-sectional pilot study included 120 eyes. Using Spectralis-OCT, area centered Bruch’s membrane opening-fovea axis was analyzed for ChT FT- distance. Results: Of 112 defined eyes, 70% (78 eyes) had ChT. Pachymetry significantly thinner (p = 0.018) eyes than without mean FT-distance 3601.9 ± 93.6µm. Conclusion: location coincided IOM, suggesting link them. association presence pachymetry suggests reduced resistance related sclera. Our results support possible involvement IOM certain PS, warranting further investigation.

We analyzed average myopia prevalence by year subsequently performed a subgroup dividing into two groups: 6-9 years old 10-12 old. provide insight long-term trends, data 4,351 subjects 6-12 4th, 5th (2008-2012), 7th (2016) Korea National Health Nutrition Examination Surveys were also reference. Results: The mean visiting throughout study period -1.51 ± 2.12 D. trend increasing myopic values observed 2017 2021, with more substantial change noted 2020 compared other years, though not reaching statistical significance. In analysis, 6-9-year-old group pronounced but did reach significance, no specific identified 10-12-year-old group. Myopia exhibited consistent increase since 2019 group, higher proportion moderate previous years. Conversely, distinct group. Conclusions: Although significance reached, it appears that indoor activities due had impact on children, especially lower grades 2020.
